Acts of Kindness Prove There Are Real Angels in the World

Life can be tough, and sometimes it feels like the world is a cold place. But every so often, you meet someone who reminds you that kindness and compassion are still all around us. These small, powerful moments can have a huge impact, and they show us that there are truly good people out there.
A Meal That Changed Everything
Growing up, I came from a background of extreme poverty. I’ll never forget the time I was thirteen years old and was invited to stay for dinner at a classmate’s house. As I sat down at the table, my eyes widened at the sight of the gorgeous roast. My mouth watered as I watched her parents begin to eat. Eagerly, I dipped my fork into the food, but a piercing stare from my friend stopped me in my tracks.
She looked at me and said in a loud voice, “Did you seriously take that little? That’s so inadequate!”
Before I could even reply, she took my plate and piled it high with food. It was as if she understood the deep importance of that meal to me. I was completely surprised and deeply moved. I savored every single bite of that delicious food, and I remember feeling like the whole table was gazing at me the whole time I was eating.
The next day, I was completely shocked when I got home from school. My friend’s mom, Mrs. Cooper, was at our house! She had never met my mother before, and I could see my mom’s cheeks turn red with embarrassment.
Then Mrs. Cooper looked at me and said, “Mrs. Cooper knew you liked roasts, so she brought us one on Sunday.” I walked into the kitchen and saw that our refrigerator was completely full of fresh, delicious food. My mom was timid and ashamed, but she couldn’t hide her joy.
That simple dinner started a wonderful friendship. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper became good friends with my parents, and what started as a casual meal blossomed into something truly special.
Sacrifices for a Stranger
Years later, I was on my way home for Christmas after completing my Basic Training. When I got to the airport, I was told that the flight was overbooked, and there was only one seat left. A couple in front of me was arguing about who should take it.
The man said to his wife, “This is your family, so you should take it. I’ll take a different flight later.”
Then, the woman turned around and asked me where I was going. I told her I was going home to see my family and my pregnant wife. She immediately told the counter clerk to give me the last available seat.
“We weren’t all heartbroken even though it was the final Christmas my dad would spend with us.” This single act of kindness allowed me to be there with my family for that precious time.
A Doctor’s Secret Generosity
My father is an oncologist. He made it a point to volunteer at a small hospital in a rural town once a week. People would come to him with stomachaches, and he would often prescribe them a certain medication. However, they would often tell him that they couldn’t afford it.
He knew from experience that their pride would prevent them from accepting help directly. So, he came up with a creative solution. He told them that he had gotten the medication as “free samples”. He then had a nurse stock up on the drug and began giving it to his patients so they could get the care they needed.
A Musician’s Gift
I’ve always loved music, and I had been wanting an alto flute for a while. A regular customer of mine was upgrading his instrument, and I offered to buy his old one. He let me take it for the weekend so I could try it out and see if I liked it before I decided to buy it.
To make a long story short, he ended up giving it to me as a gift. Sadly, he passed away just three weeks later. “Farewell, Tom. Of all the individuals I’ve ever known, you were exceptional.” That thoughtful gift from a truly good person will always be a reminder of his kindness.
