How To Make Cheesy Potato Stuffed Dough Balls with Mayonnaise Dough:
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Boil Water and Add Mayonnaise: Pour 250 ml of water into a skillet. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat. As soon as it bubbles, add 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise and stir until fully dissolved.
- Incorporate Flour: Gradually add 350 grams of wheat flour to the skillet, stirring continuously until the mixture comes together to form a soft, smooth, and pliable dough.
- Cool the Dough: Transfer the dough to a large bowl and set it aside to cool completely.
- Step 2: Prepare the Potato Filling
- Mash the Potatoes: In another large bowl, add the 3 medium boiled potatoes, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter. Mash the potatoes until they form a smooth puree.
- Add Cheese: Add 100 grams of grated mozzarella cheese to the mashed potatoes. Mix everything together until the cheese is evenly distributed. Set the filling aside.
- Step 3: Shape and Stuff the Dough Balls
- Divide the Dough: Once the dough has cooled, transfer it to a clean countertop. Cut the dough into 16 equal pieces.
- Flatten and Fill: Take one piece of dough and flatten it with your fingers or a rolling pin to create a small disc. Place 1 teaspoon of the potato filling in the center of the disc. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal it, forming a ball once again. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Step 4: Fry the Dough Balls
- Heat the Oil: Fill a skillet with oil and heat it over medium-high heat until very hot.
- Fry the Dough Balls: Carefully place the stuffed dough balls into the hot oil. Fry them on both sides until they are golden brown and crispy (about 2-3 minutes per side). Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Step 5: Serve and Enjoy Arrange the golden-brown dough balls on a serving platter. These snacks are best enjoyed hot, while the exterior is crispy and the filling is warm and cheesy. Serve with your favorite dip, such as garlic aioli or marinara sauce.
