This cozy Mom’s Butter Baked Chicken dish results in juicy chicken breasts coated in a seasoned flour mix and baked in a creamy, buttery sauce made with butter, cream of chicken soup, and evaporated milk.
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- ¼ cup water
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat and Prep Chicken
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour a little evaporated milk into a shallow bowl for dipping. In another bowl, mix the flour, salt, and pepper.
Step 2: Coat Chicken
Dip each chicken breast into the evaporated milk, then coat thoroughly with the seasoned flour mixture.
Step 3: Initial Bake
Melt the butter in a 13×9-inch baking dish. Arrange the coated chicken in the melted butter and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
Step 4: Make Sauce
While the chicken bakes, stir together the water, cream of chicken soup, and the remaining evaporated milk until smooth.
Step 5: Finish Baking
After 30 minutes, turn the chicken over and pour the soup mixture over it evenly. Continue baking for another 30 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the top is golden and bubbly.
