The top layer of this Magic Chicken Pie is incredibly tasty—so good that I’ll be making it again for sure!

This cozy, one-of-a-kind casserole is built in simple layers—no mixing required—and the Bisquick bakes into a soft, biscuit-style topping as it cooks.
Magic Chicken Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| INGREDIENT | AMOUNT |
|---|---|
| Cooked or shredded chicken | 2 cups |
| Butter, cubed | 6 tablespoons |
| Chopped onion | 1/2 |
| Bisquick baking mix | 2 cups |
| Chicken broth | 1 1/2 cups |
| Milk | 1 1/2 cups |
| Cheddar cheese, grated | 1 cup |
| Cream of chicken soup | 10 1/2 ounces |
| Mixed vegetables (fresh or frozen) | 2 cups |
Instructions
Step 1: Warm the Oven & Melt Butter
Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Add the 6 tablespoons of cubed butter to a 9×13-inch pan, then warm it in the oven just until the butter has fully melted. Carefully pull the dish out.
Step 2: Mix the Two Liquids
In one bowl, whisk together the milk and Bisquick to form the topping mixture.
In another bowl, blend the chicken broth with the cream of chicken soup until smooth.
Step 3: Build the Bottom Layers
Without stirring, add the following directly into the buttered dish:
- Spread the cooked or shredded chicken in an even layer.
- Scatter the mixed veggies and chopped onion on top.
- Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over everything.
Step 4: Add the Liquid Layers
Gently pour the Bisquick mixture over the cheese layer.
Then pour the broth–soup mixture on top of that. Do not mix.
Step 5: Bake & Let Rest
Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the top turns golden and the casserole is bubbling. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
