Amish 3-Ingredient Sweet Crumble Casserole
Ingredients
- Fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, or peach) – 2 cans (21 oz each)
- Yellow cake mix, dry – 1 box (approx. 15 1/4 oz)
- Unsalted butter, melted – 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks)
How to Make Amish 3-Ingredient Sweet Crumble Casserole
Step 1: Prep Oven and Dish
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2: Layer the Fruit
Pour the fruit pie filling into the prepared dish and spread it evenly with a spatula, making sure it reaches all corners.
Step 3: Add the Cake Mix
Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fruit evenly. Level it gently with a spoon or your hands—do not stir. Keeping the layers separate is what gives this dessert its signature crumble texture.
Step 4: Drizzle the Butter
Slowly pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much of the dry mix as possible. It’s okay if some small dry spots remain—they’ll soak up the fruit juices while baking.
Step 5: Bake
Place the dish in the center of the oven and bake for 35–45 minutes, until the top is deep golden brown and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.
Step 6: Rest and Serve
Let the casserole sit for 10–15 minutes after baking so the juices thicken and the topping firms up. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
