Buttermilk Biscuits Topped With Honey Butter

These tender, classic buttermilk biscuits get an elevated touch thanks to icy-cold grated butter and a warm honey-butter glaze brushed on right after they come out of the oven.
Buttermilk Biscuits with Honey Butter Glaze
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Self-rising flour | 2 cups |
| Cold buttermilk | 1 cup |
| Salt | 1/2 tsp (optional) |
| Frozen butter, grated | 3/4 stick |
| Melted butter | 2 tbsp |
| Honey | 1 tbsp |
Instructions
Step 1: Combine Dry Ingredients and Butter
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the self-rising flour (and salt, if using). Add the grated frozen butter and mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 2: Add the Buttermilk
Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix with a spoon or spatula until the dough comes together in a rough, shaggy mass.
Step 3: Fold and Shape
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Press it together, then fold it over itself about five times to create flaky layers. Cut out biscuits with a 2½-inch cutter, being careful not to twist.
Step 4: Bake
Arrange the biscuits in a greased pan so they’re lightly touching. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 18–20 minutes, or until the tops are nicely golden.
Step 5: Add the Honey Butter Glaze
While still hot, mix the melted butter and honey. Brush the warm glaze generously over the tops of the biscuits as soon as they leave the oven.
