Ingredients

Pie Crust | Custard Filling

1 prepared pie crust (homemade or store-bought) | 3 large eggs
Optional: 1 beaten egg + 1 tbsp water for egg wash | 1 cup granulated sugar
| | 1 tsp vanilla extract
| | 1/4 tsp salt
| | 2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)
| | 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
| | 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional for added warmth)

Directions

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven

Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch dish, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim the excess dough, and if you’d like a golden finish, brush the crust with the egg wash.

2️⃣ Mix the Custard

In a bowl, whisk the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt until the mixture is smooth.
Gradually pour in the milk while stirring until well combined.

Separately, blend the flour with the nutmeg (if using), then slowly add this to the custard mixture, stirring to keep it lump-free.

3️⃣ Fill the Crust

Pour the custard into the prepared pie shell, spreading it evenly.

4️⃣ Bake Until Set

Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the edges become lightly golden and the center is firm.
To test for doneness, gently insert a knife near the middle—if it comes out clean, your pie is finished.

5️⃣ Cool and Enjoy

Let the pie cool completely before slicing.
Serve at room temperature or chilled, and add a dusting of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.
