How to Make Apple Cinnamon Pull-Apart Bread
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup sugar, yeast, and salt.
Step 2: Warm the Liquids
In a small saucepan, gently heat the melted butter, milk, and water until warm (around 110°F). Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, then add the eggs and vanilla. Stir to combine.
Step 3: Knead the Dough
Slowly incorporate the remaining 1 cup of flour until a soft dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and stretchy.
Step 4: First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Step 5: Roll It Out
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a glass baking dish. Punch down the dough and roll it into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
Step 6: Add the Filling
Brush the dough with melted butter. Combine the sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle evenly over the surface, and scatter the chopped apples on top.
Step 7: Cut and Stack
Slice the dough into vertical strips. Stack the strips, then cut them into smaller sections. Stand the pieces upright in the prepared baking dish.
Step 8: Second Rise & Bake
Cover and allow the dough to rise for another 30 minutes. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden on top and fully baked through.
Step 9: Glaze and Enjoy
Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm bread and serve right away.
